Games on video are a great method to show your creativity. Players are able to direct their characters their lives and go to places that wouldn’t be possible using any other media. From establishing a new city to beating the ultimate boss, they’re able to achieve everything. They’re a work of art and should be treated as such. It is essential that game developers include in their games characters that represent a range of people and experiences. This includes minorities, queer people disabled people, and others.
Games with character creation and romance
Gaming companies are making significant advancements towards inclusion. Companies like Bethesda and Ubisoft have taken innovative and business risks by slowly introducing LGBT characters to their games. The inclusion of characters like Tracer and Soldier: of 76 in the well-known multiplayer shooter Overwatch has proved that these risks are beginning to pay off. The inclusion of these characters has made players feel that the game is more relatable and has greater depth because of their inclusion.
Anime games with character creation and romance
It’s not just the big budget titles that are beginning to incorporate LGBTQ characters, smaller independent developers are also pushing the boundaries in terms of inclusivity. Dream Daddy, a dad-dating sim released in 2017 has been celebrated for including both male and female characters who do not have to be confined by gender binaries. Fire Emblem has been praised for having characters with diverse backgrounds, for example numerous LGBTQ characters.
Mobile games where you can customize your character
Mass Effect, released in 2007, was one of the biggest milestones in LGBTQ inclusion in video games. The game introduced a vast world of diverse species and allowed players to develop relationships with characters regardless of gender. It was an important development for the industry of gaming, and it set the precedent for other games to follow suit.
Recent games like the Assassin’s creed Odyssey game have featured LGBTQ characters that are not identified through their sexuality. The game’s Xenia character is a flamboyant pirate who is openly bisexual and doesn’t show any signs of guilt or repression. Her inclusion is a refreshing change from the standard portrayals of LGBTQ characters in games.
Similar to the way BioWare’s forthcoming game Dragon Age Inquisition allows players to marry V who is non-binary or transgender. The choice is purely optional, but the fact that BioWare has made it available to all indicates that they’ve taken the necessary steps to ensure that their games reflect the diversity of the entire community.
These games prove that LGBTQ inclusion in gaming is not just an option but also highly desirable. The addition of these characters help make it easier to accept LGBTQ relationships, which helps to ensure that hatred and bigotry become no more. In the end, it’s up the players to ensure they play games featuring LGBTQ characters that are representative of their identities and interests. We are encouraging our students and faculty to participate in these games, and to seek out even more games that are inclusive.
