Gay romance games aren’t common and are highly appreciated, particularly in the video game industry. Many gamers feel that gay characters aren’t helpful or essential, but it’s not disputed that games with LGBT characters can help spread awareness and tolerance. These games also let players develop a character with more depth and give players an experience they might not have experienced as children.

There are several games that have incorporated gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) romances, and include some highly-rated titles. The Jade Empire, a game developed by BioWare which offered a variety of options for relationships between gay and lesbian and was among the first. While Dawn Star was only attracted to males, Sky and Silk Fox could be romanced by either gender, which was a big advancement for a Chinese fantasy game at the time.
